Peter Holzer of Randburg got a pleasant surprise when his trip to an Ultra Liquors store saw him win R10,000 in a national competition held in conjunction with Spier Wines.

Peter purchased a bottle of Spier Cabernet Sauvignon from Ultra Liquors Greenpoint while on holiday. Entry was by SMS, an unknown method to Peter, who would have given up entering but for his daughter's help.

On his return to Randburg, Peter learned that he'd won first prize; R10,000 in cash and enough to pay for the largest part of his holiday.

Peter was one of thousands of entrants in the Spier Ultra Liquors promotion, which rolled out across South Africa from March to May 2009. Further competitions will run later in the year, for further details visit www.spierwines.co.za.
